WOONSOCKET --- Mount St. Charles has earned the right to defend its own Holiday Face-Off tournament title, but in order to get back to the finals, MSC had to overcome the superb play of a scorching-hot goaltender.
St. Dominic Academy of Auburn, Maine received a brilliant 56-save effort by Grant Carrier, but Mount was able to get key goals from two of its freshmen and skate off with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday night in the semifinals of their 16th annual tournament at Adelard Arena.
PROVIDENCE â Whether itâs a cross-country or track race, thereâs only one place where Trevor Crawley feels the most comfortable, and thatâs right up front.
âI donât like not leading,â said the Cumberland High junior. âI donât feel like itâs my race.â
For almost the entire distance of the 3,000-meter run at Wednesdayâs Rhode Island Track Classic, Crawley took his customary, front-runner position, rattling off consistent 200 splits between 36-37 seconds.
The Clipper standout did the necessary work for a victory in the regional meet, it just wasnât enough.
CUMBERLAND â Tolman head coach Mike Kayata can live with Jonathan Percy firing away from the baseline. Itâs a whole other matter when the 6-foot-7 junior tees up a shot from behind the 3-point stripe.
