Woonsocket girls top S.K. in playoff opener

WOONSOCKET – There’s something to be said about playoff experience.
Kailey Fugere and Ashley Dubois showed just why on Wednesday night.
The Woonsocket High teammates, who have been instrumental players for the Villa Novans in their last two state titles, including the Division I crown last year, stepped up with huge efforts against a pesky South Kingstown outfit.

Mount boys and girls set to defend ice titles

The march to Providence College is on!
Five boys’ and two girls’ teams will begin their quests for championship glory this weekend when their best-of-three quarterfinal round series get under way at hockey rinks scattered throughout the state.
In Division I, Mount St. Charles Academy will pursue its fourth straight state title. The Mounties are the top seed and will face eighth-seeded Smithfield on Friday at 9 p.m. at Adelard Arena and again on Saturday at 8 at the Smithfield Ice Rink.
