NORTH SMITHFIELD â When you have a very talented team thatâs loaded with freshmen and sophomores like the one North Smithfield has this season, even the worst of innings can pop up now and then.
One of those innings took place in the sixth inning of the Northmenâs Division II crossover game at home against Exeter/West Greenwich, and it helped lead to N.S.âs first loss of the season.
The Northmen committed four errors in an ugly inning that saw the defending Division II champion Scarlet Knights scratch out all its runs in a 3-0 victory.
PAWTUCKET â Felix Doubront is returning to his pitching roots. After serving as a left-handed option in Bostonâs bullpen for a week-plus, Doubront will now serve as a member of Pawtucketâs starting rotation.
âHeâs going to start games,â confirmed Mike Hazen, the Red Soxâ vice president of player development. âHeâll probably be on a shortened pitch count to start, but weâll build him up from there. Heâll start the games.â
