Anderson confident power surge will come

May 10, 2011

PAWTUCKET — Nobody understands Lars Anderson’s homerless quandary more than Anderson himself. He knows that first-base prospects aren’t supposed to be stuck on zero home runs nearly five weeks into the season.
Right now, Anderson is going through a severe power drought, something that even has the cerebral sort worried. The facts do not lie, as Anderson entered Tuesday having yet to go deep in 30 games, spanning 125 at-bats.

Cumberland hands Chariho its first loss of season

May 10, 2011

CUMBERLAND --- An undefeated team, one of the state’s best pitchers, and some chilly weather were unable to cool off red-hot Cumberland High on Tuesday afternoon.
The Clippers used a four-run rally in the bottom of the second inning and a strong outing from ace pitcher Bethany Paul to knock Chariho High from the unbeaten ranks and grab a 7-2 triumph in their Division I crossover showdown at Tucker Field.
The Chargers came into the game with a 9-0 mark that saw them outscore their opponents by a 71-22 margin, but bused out of Cumberland with a one-sided loss.
