Smithfield girls nail Novans, share dual-meet title

May 2, 2011

SMITHFIELD – When his team made the 15-minute bus ride to Smithfield High on Monday, Woonsocket coach Dan Richard knew his unbeaten Villa Novans were not facing the same Sentinel squad that suffered an 87-62 loss to Central Falls a few weeks ago for its first setback in eight years.
Richard was well aware that his Novan’s victory over the Warriors last week with ironically the same score, didn’t mean a whole lot in the Northern Division match-up.
Smithfield proved him right.
