Northmen crush Burrillville, 55-26

BURRILLVILLE – Paris Correia ran wild on Saturday afternoon and his North Smithfield teammates followed suit.
The speedy senior scored four touchdown and fellow senior Carlos Guzman added two more as the Northmen claimed the coveted Lovett-Hauser Trophy with a 55-26 squashing of Burrillville in a non-leaguer at Alumni Field. North Smithfield garnered more than 400 total yards in the two-plus hour affair, held under a hot sun.

PawSox' season comes to an end

PAWTUCKET – That’s all she wrote for the 2011 edition of the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Pawtucket concluded its meek showing in the Governors’ Cup playoffs with a lackluster 3-1 loss to Lehigh Valley Saturday night at McCoy Stadium. The three-game sweep pushes the IronPigs into the finals where they will face defending champion Columbus.
Pawtucket led just once in the entire series –1-0 after the first inning of the second game – and wound up hitting 3-for-26 with runners in scoring position, including a hitless showing in six opportunities in Game 3. Collectively the PawSox hit .180.

BURRILLVILLE – Chariho Regional senior Mike Marsella registered the fastest time of the day on Saturday at the annual Injury Fund Cross-Country Carnival, held at Burrillville Middle School.
Marsella covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 15 minutes, 25.96 seconds to win the Platt III race, one of four boys’ races.
