The high school football season will meet its halfway point this weekend, which means a large dose of non-league games and a few league matchups on the areaâs docket.
Eight games make up this weekâs schedule, with tonightâs Division II crossover game between II-B team Cumberland and II-A squad Mount Hope in Bristol and tomorrowâs Division IV duel between Central Falls and Hope in Providence highlighting the top local games.
NORTH SMITHFIELD â It was a simple question, and North Smithfield High head coach Jeremy Sherer responded in kind.
When asked if he was satisfied with his Northmenâs 2-0 Division II victory over East Providence early Thursday evening, he stated merely, âNo.â
He claimed he had good reason.
âYou know, weâve had two really good wins this year; the first one against Pilgrim, and the second against Tiverton,â he elaborated. âTheyâre both very strong teams, and when we play those types of teams, we do very well. In big games, we step it up a couple of notches.
