Unbeaten Burrillville claims Div. II field hockey title

BRISTOL — When Burrillville High senior tri-captain Laura Hauser went home after school to grab her uniform Monday afternoon, there was a strange addition next to her jersey, laying right there on her bed.
“It was about 2:30, and I found a lucky penny, with the head up,” she explained. “My mom said she didn't have any idea how it got there. I almost walked out of the house without it; I got to my car, then forgot I didn't have it, so I turned around and raced back to get it.
“I mean, I'm a superstitious person,” she added.

Clippers, Novans eye Div. II football quarterfinals this week

For the eight football teams that succeeded in qualifying for the Division II postseason, the objective is crystal clear – survive to play the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.
Of the three local participants, only one team is guaranteed a coveted spot in the semifinals. Woonsocket and St. Raphael will lock helmets in a quarterfinal-round clash at Pariseau Field come 6 o’clock Saturday night.
