PORTSMOUTH â Mount St. Charles rebounded from Friday nightâs 6-3 loss to Bishop Hendricken with a solid 3-0 shutout of Moses Brown on Sunday at the Portsmouth Abbey rink.
Brian Campbell scored two goals to lead the Mounties, who evened their Division I league record at 3-3 on the season.
âWe played great,â coach Dave Belisle said. âThe kids had to kill seven penalties and they did a good job of it. Overall, this was a good bounce-back game for us.â
Mount gets another crack at first-place Hendricken (7-0-1) on Saturday night in a 6:30 p.m. game at Thayer Arena in Warwick.

SANFORD, Me. â Cumberland took home two individual champions and a fourth-place team finish from the highly competitive Redskins Invitational tournament on Saturday.
Erik Travers was named Outstanding Wrestler in the event after pinning all four of his opponents en route to the 145-pound championship.

NORTH SMITHFIELD â First-year North Smithfield basketball coach T.J. Ciolfi believes in playing the game at a fast tempo.
âWe trap and press the entire game,â Ciolfi was saying on Saturday, two days after his Northmen lost to unbeaten Johnston, their first Division III defeat in four games this season.
âI learned that we have to rebound better from that game,â Ciolfi, a North Providence native, said. âWe had been doing a good job rebounding until we played Johnston, but they are tall and very aggressive. It seemed like they got to every loose ball.â

WOONSOCKET --- Bishop Hendricken scored three times in the first 4:41 of the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and net a 6-3 win over Mount St. Charles on Friday night in their marquee Division I matchup at Adelard Arena.
The Mounties, who fell to 2-3 in the division, but were coming off a 4-0 mark in their winter non-league slate, erased a 2-0 deficit in the opening period by receiving goals from Brandon Borges, Steve Donahue, and Tyler Scroggins in the first 6œ minutes of the second period.
CUMBERLAND --- After suffering a 39-point shellacking two nights earlier, Woonsocket High got back on track in a big way on Friday night.
Seniors Kailey Fugere and Michelle Brayboy had superb games for the Villa Novans, who used an 18-point run midway through the second half to breeze to a 58-33 victory over Cumberland High in their Division I-North matchup at the Clippersâ Wellness Center.

NORTH SMITHFIELD â North Smithfield won its first three league games in Division III-North by an average of nearly 22 points.
First-year NS coach TJ Ciolfi knew No. 4 wouldnât be the same. Facing the Northmen in Thursdayâs league showdown was equally-unbeaten Johnston, another talented squad that has beaten its three opponents by almost 26 points per outing.
"The teams are exactly the same,â Ciolfi said. âWe are almost as identical in the way we play.â
PAWTUCKET â If Tolman High ever fits the pieces together, the Tigers could be a tough out in the Division II playoffs.
It is coach Mike Kayataâs job to develop his players into a cohesive unit over the next seven weeks, trying to get the most out of a roster that contains an explosive scoring guard in Juan Velez, a 6-foot-7 junior center named Jon Percy who is a sleeping giant, and several role players who might hold the key to this teamâs ultimate outcome.

While receiving praise from the dean of Big East coaches is a sign that Cooleyâs work is not going unnoticed around the league, the PC head coach was in no mood to talk about moral victories following his teamâs third straight loss, the latest a 87-73 setback to top-ranked Syracuse Wednesday night at The Dunk.
