Villa Novans have no trouble with Cougars

February 20, 2012

WOONSOCKET — Woonsocket High overcame some early jitters, developed better ball control and eventually coasted to a 61-40 Division I-North victory over North Providence High at the Villa Novans’ Savaria Gymnasium on Monday night.
It was quite the way to celebrate “Senior Night” in its home arena. Prior to the opening tip, head coach George Coderre reveled in the hard work and dedication exhibited by his four seniors over the past four years, and gave Michelle Brayboy, Allyson Cartier, Kailey Fugere and Caitlyn Marcoux bouquets of flowers to thank them.

February 20, 2012

WARWICK — Andrew Etheridge has had his share of superb performances during his brilliant high school career at Burrillville, but the one he produced on Monday afternoon may have been his very best.
With his Broncos trailing 1-0 to last-place North Kingstown after a period of play, the senior co-captain put his team on his shoulders and responded with five straight goals.
Etheridge eventually ended the contest with a sixth goal to help the playoff-bound Broncos skate to an 8-2 triumph at Thayer Arena and the 11th victory in their last 12 games.

Clippers shut down Patriots, 2-0

February 20, 2012

WARWICK — Those reports on Cumberland’s demise down the stretch have been greatly exaggerated.
The Clippers put the clamps on a four-game winless streak in a very big way on Monday afternoon by beating the team they are battling for second place in the Division II-North ranks, Pilgrim.
Andrew Dulac and Michael Kinch supplied the early scoring and goaltender Patrick Noke turned away 27 shots to lead the Clippers to a much-needed 2-0 victory at Thayer Arena.
