February 4th
SMITHFIELD -- Twenty-two days away from action did little to slow down North Smithfield on Friday night at the Smithfield Ice Rink.
Hannah Decelles and Courtney Sweeney each scored a pair of goals and Nicole Dumais added three assists to lead the Northmen to a 7-1 victory over winless Smithfield.
The Northmen, who are 4-7-1, but 3-2-1 in their last six games, also received goals from Cara Figuerido, Siobhan Kiernan, and Alexandria Gould, and Decelles also added a pair of assists.
WOONSOCKET --- Mount St. Charles took charge right from the start of its Division I contest with Moses Brown on Friday night at Adelard Arena and skated away with a 6-3 victory that gave the third-place hosts some breathing room in the power standings.
Now 7-5, the Mounties have 12.6 power points, which is now more than two over fourth-place Burrillville (10.2) and three over fifth-place Moses Brown (9.4), which saw its record fall to 6-6-1.

WOONSOCKET --- Pilgrim didnât win the battle of numbers on Friday night, but the Patriots won a very big game against Cumberland, a âWâ that vaulted them over the Clippers and into first place in the Division II-North standings.
Senior center Cody Weaverâs second goal of the game with 2:14 to play in the game lifted the visiting Patriots to a hard-fought 3-2 triumph in a battle of two shorthanded teams at Adelard Arena.
PAWTUCKET â The look on the face of Burrillville High coach Lindsay Rachlow said it all. She wasnât out there with her players during Friday nightâs Division II-North contest with Tolman, but she certainly showed the exhaustion of playing a fierce battle with the Tigers.
It was a battle that her Broncos managed to win, eking out a 48-47 victory over Tolman before its typically-loud fan base at the Donaldson Gymnasium.
February 2nd
BARRINGTON â Woonsocket scored one of its most satisfying victories of the season on Thursday night, rallying from an early 7-0 deficit to edge Barrington 48-43 and take over second place in Division I-North.
Kailey Fugere scored 30 points and Michelle Brayboy added 13 for the Villa Novans, who are now 9-3 and have won their last six league games. The victory avenged an early-season 51-32 loss to Barrington on Woonsocketâs home court.
Fugere added 11 rebounds and netted the decisive basket with 40 seconds left to play as Woonsocket took a 48-43 lead and then held on for the win.

PROVIDENCE â How do you cure those Friar blues? Answer: a visit from the Scarlet Knights.
Despite playing two very uneven halves Wednesday night, Providence was able to secure a rare Big East triumph at the expense of Rutgers, 78-67. The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Friars, who placed five players in double figures led by strong performances from Bilal Dixon (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Vincent Council (11 points, 14 assists).
âI thought today was our day,â said a clearly-relieved Ed Cooley, his Friars now 2-8 in the league and 13-10 overall.
If Burrillville wants to remain in the top four of the Division Iâs power standings and play for the new Championship Division crown next month, then this weekend is the one that could make or break the Broncosâ chances.
The Broncos, who are 8-4 and occupy fourth place in the divisionâs overall standings, are facing their toughest two-day stretch of the season in the form of a Friday 9:30 p.m. clash at Thayer Arena against first-place Bishop Hendricken (10-1-1) and a Saturday 8:30 p.m. battle in the friendly confines of Levy Arena against Moses Brown (6-5-1).

CUMBERLAND --- Shea coach Matt Pita got exactly what he wanted from his ballclub on Tuesday night â 32 minutes of smart basketball â and because of that, his Raiders picked up a surprisingly-lopsided victory over Cumberland.
Six-foot-six center Michael Neal produced a game-high 15 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots to power a balanced scoring assault by the Raiders and help them bus home with a resounding 77-46 triumph at the Clippersâ Wellness Center.
