Alice V. Richard
WOONSOCKET- Alice V. (Labonne) Richard, 85, died Thursday July 5, in the Friendly Home. She was the wife of the late Adrien S. Richard.
Mrs. Richard was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Louis and Loretta (Girard) Labonne.
Mrs. Labonne was a textile worker for Empire Woolen Mills for many years before retiring in 1972. After retiring, she pursued her interest in caring for horses in Blackstone.
Jane E. Devine
UXBRIDGE- Jane E. (DeStefano) Devine, 76, died July 6, 2012 at home. She was the wife of Thomas E. Devine of Uxbridge.
Born in Woonsocket, the daughter of the late Ercole and Agusta (DeAngelis) DeStefano, she was a North Smithfield resident for forty six years prior to moving to Uxbridge in 2010.
Mrs. Devine worked as an elementary school teacher in Canton, MA,, No. Smithfield and Woonsocket, retiring in 1999. She attended Green Mountain College and received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Boston University.

PAWTUCKET â€” Police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Darrell Johnson, 19, in connection with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Joshua Burgo behind the Nathanael Greene Elementary School Friday morning.
Police said the victim was shot in the chest at around 2:58 a.m. He was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

BELLINGHAM â€” The Belling-ham Business Association (BBA) has announced this year's winners of two $1,500 scholarships. These scholarships are offered to Bellingham residents who are graduating from high school and will be going on to higher education.
One of the recipients, Maria Mendez, is a graduate of Bellingham High School and will be attending Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley, Mass. this fall to major in business.
BURRILLVILLE â€” The 28th annual Fishing Derby at Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club took place June 9-10.
Fishing Derby Chairman Norm Fontaine, along with staff and friends from Seven Hills of Rhode Island â€” an affiliate of the Seven Hills Foundation â€” attended the Saturday portion of the event. Members from the WLRGCâ€™s Fishing Derby Committee and volunteer members assisted the 67 participants in demonstrating their fishing skills.
Hamburgers, hotdogs, soft drinks and chips donated by the club were served.
WOONSOCKET â€“ A man whose exploits as a master art thief have been chronicled in books, magazines and newspapers for decades was arrested after an armed holdup that was anything but artful, police say.
Myles J. Connor, 69, and Suzanne King, 48, both of Blackstone, were charged with one count each of armed robbery and conspiracy after stealing a cell phone from two women with whom they were apparently acquainted.
Detective Sgt. Edward Cunanan said Connor and King used a realistic-looking toy gun to rob the women near CT Plus Convenience store on Hamlet Avenue about 4 p.m.
WOONSOCKET â€“ City officials say theyâ€™ve learned that the owner of Waterview Apartments has been mistakenly granted a quarter million dollarsâ€™ worth of tax breaks since 2006 and now they want to be reimbursed by the owners of the Privilege Street complex.
A lawyer for Omni Privilege Limited Partnership disputes the allegations, however, saying the company received the relief with permission from the city and should continue to do so.
â€śWe would fight any effort to collect the tax retroactively,â€ť Robert Berkelhammer said.

Susan L. Jencks
CUMBERLAND- Susan L. (Vose) Jencks, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Herchal Jencks.
Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Fred I. and Marion S. (Spelman) Vose.
Susan was a waitress at the former Meadowcrest Restaurant on Mendon Rd., Cumberland for many years and also worked as a CNA at The Holiday, Manville. During her free time she enjoyed playing bingo.
