MILLVILLE- Margaret "Marty" Frances (Collins) Sullivan, 101 of Millville, died peacefully in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Westborough Tuesday, February 5, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Hoard) Collins and the beloved wife of the late Edward Sullivan who died in 1968.

CUMBERLAND — Mitchell Baxter had a perfectly good reason to step inside Cumberland High’s main office at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
With his heart and mind firmly made up about joining the Bryant University football family, Baxter faxed in his National Letter of Intent to the NCAA Division I FCS member. A senior who played a key role in the Clippers capturing the Division II Super Bowl this past fall, Baxter had also considered Assumption (Mass.) College, Southern Connecticut State, West Virginia’s Fairmont State University and Plymouth (N.H.) State.

MacDonald tapped as town’s new finance director

NORTH SMITHFIELD — The town has appointed a new finance director to replace Brian Silvia, who left in September to be finance director in West Warwick.
Brenda MacDonald, the town's assistant finance director, has now taken the reins as North Smithfield's new finance chief, according to Town Administrator Paulette D. Hamilton.
“Brenda has served the town well and will provide oversight of all financial departments, including tax collector, assessor, payroll, human resources and accounts payable,” Hamilton said.

Lowe’s relocating to North Smithfield Feb. 15

WOONSOCKET – The city’s loss will be North Smithfield’s gain as Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse trades in its Diamond Hill Road store for a newer model in the neighboring town’s burgeoning Dowling Village retail center next week.
The latest blow the city’s main retail strip officially takes place on Feb. 13, when Lowe’s will close the local store. The Dowling Village site will open for the first time two days later, said Natalie Turner, a spokeswoman for Lowe’s.

LINCOLN- Robert F. Gaboury, 71, of Lincoln lost his battle with cancer on February 3 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lorraine (Masse) for the past 52 years.
Born in Woonsocket, RI the son of the late Alice (Comtois) and Arthur Gaboury, he operated Bob's Plumbing & Heating for many years before moving to Florida for 30 years.

BURRILLVILLE- Jeffery J. Hagerty 51 resident of Pascoag passed January 29, 2013 at the Zambarano Hospital in Pascoag RI.
He was born in Woonsocket RI, a son of the late James Sr. & Lydia (Pacheco) Hagerty.
Jeff worked for Arc of Northern RI for many years. He was a lifelong resident of Burrillville. He was a participant of the Special Olympics in which he received numerous medals. Jeff enjoyed sports watching the New England Patriots and wrestling.

SLATERSVILLE- Thomas E. Mundy, Sr., 92, of Slatersville, died Saturday, January 26 in the VA Medical Center, West Roxbury, MA, after an illness. He was the husband of Clare (Ide) Mundy, whom he married December 3, 1945.
Born in North Smithfield, RI, he was the son of the late Stanley and Maybelle (Quinley) Mundy.
During WWII, Tom was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a fighter pilot in the China-Burma-India Theatre. During his later years he participated in the WWII Veterans Oral History Project.
