PINEHURST, NC- Betty J. Desjardins, 84 of Pinehurst, NC died August 29, 2012 at her residence.
Inurnment will be held by the family at Pinelawn Memorial Park at a future date.
Born in Chicago, IL to the late Jesse and Elizabeth Fauth Bauer, she graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond, Ind. She married her husband Robert on January 14, 1967 in Honolulu, HI., and traveled extensively abroad with him during a 28 year military career. A staunch Republican, she held many state level positions in the Hawaii Republican Party.
WOONSOCKET â€” Students at the Kevin K. Coleman and Gov. Aram J. Pothier elementary schools will see new faces in the Principals' office at their schools following action by both the School Committee and state-appointed Budget Commission.
The School Committee on Wednesday appointed Lisa Jacques, a veteran math teacher at the high school, to the vacancy at Coleman Elementary School and named Dr. Donna Raptakis, a Coventry School Department administrator and special education teacher, as principal of Pothier Elementary School by unanimous votes.

WOONSOCKET â€” Vapors from an adhesive product caught fire with an explosive flash that left one man injured at an East Woonsocket residence Wednesday night.
Firefighters said George Butts, 45, was installing a kitchen floor in his second-story apartment at 446 Cumberland Hill Road about 8 p.m. when the room was suddenly engulfed in flames.
â€śTenants heard a loud bang,â€ť said Capt. Michael Morin, deputy state fire marshal for the Woonsocket Fire Department. â€śThere was definitely an explosion. The adhesive was all over the walls.â€ť

Lucien A. Dansereau
WOONSOCKET- Lucien A. Dansereau, 87, of Mendon Rd., died peacefully on August 29, 2012 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Brissette) Dansereau of Woonsocket, whom he married May 21, 1949.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Henri and Matilde (Lapierre) Dansereau.

WOONSOCKET â€“ Steward Health Careâ€™s deadline for closing on the sale of Landmark Medical Center has been extended another month, until Sept. 30, but Attorney General Peter Kilmartin has made it clear heâ€™s running out of patience.
In a letter written to Steward this week, Kilmartinâ€™s office says further extensions of the closing deadline are contingent on continued good-faith negotiations between the for-profit hospital chain from Boston and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

BELLINGHAM- Bernard R. Cyr, 68, of Bellingham passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 40 years of Muriel S. (Tessier) Cyr.
Born in Woonsocket on March 12, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Florence (Boisvert) Cyr and step-son of the late Lillian (Blais) Cyr and Doris )Lataille Cyr.
WOONSOCKET â€” Having called Providence home for half of his life, Andre Soukhamthath is no stranger to attending events at the Dunkinâ€™ Donuts Center.
Heâ€™s seen concerts, pro wrestling events, and Providence College basketball games there. And on Oct. 6, he will be at The Dunk for the arenaâ€™s first mixed martial arts show.
But instead of attending the show, Soukhamthath will be the show and fight on the undercard of Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc.â€™s â€śReal Painâ€ť show at the well-known Providence arena.
MILLVILLE- Francis (Frank) Andrew Borek, a lifelong resident of Millville, MA., died at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge, MA. on August 22, 2012 at the age of 93.
Frank was born on January 13, 1919, the son of Joseph and Mary (Bozek) Borek.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Jennie (Stanley) Borek, his beloved children, John of Millville, Gail of Boston, and Michael and his wife Deborah of Colorodo, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.
