WOONSOCKET â For a few moments, it felt like a train was hurtling through the neighborhood as Christine Lanoue shoveled the heavy, slushy snow in front of her home at the end of First Avenue yesterday.
âI heard a big rumbling and the whole ground was shaking,â she said. âI thought my house was collapsing.â

Kendzierski
PASCOAG- Denise M. Kendzierski 75, resident of N. Main St., Pascoag, passed away Jan. 21, 2011 at the Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.
She was the wife of the late Charles Kendzierski.
Born in Tarklin Hill RI, a daughter of the late Joseph & Lydia (Souza) Pacheco.
Denise worked for the PolyTop Co. in Slatersville where she retired, previously she worked for the Crest Co. in Lincoln, and she worked most of her life for the A.T. Cross Co.
Raymond J. Morin
WOONSOCKET- Raymond J. Morin 94, of Winter St. died Monday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Cecile (Lamothe) Morin.
Mr. Morin was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Henri and Maria (Michon) Morin.
He was a textile worker for the former Argon Worsted Co. and Fenwall Co. in Ashland, MA for most of his life, until his retirement in 1984.
Rene A. Lavallee
MANVILLE- Rene A. Lavallee of Old River Rd., Manville, died Sunday at home surrounded by his family. He was in his ninetieth year. Mr. Lavallee was the loving husband of Jeannette R. (Lussier) Lavallee. They were married on July 6, 1946.
Born in Manville, he was a son of the late William and Yvonne (Beaudoin) Lavallee. He was a lifelong resident of Manville. He was a graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy and Hill College.

WOONSOCKET â If you liked yesterdayâs weather, youâre going to love what Mother Nature has in store for us today.
The latest in a series of unusually fierce winter storms turns out to be a double-dipper. After dumping four to seven inches of snow across the Blackstone Valley Tuesday, a second wave â a hard-to-predict combo of snow, sleet and rain â is expected to whack the region by nightfall.
CUMBERLAND â Another snow day, another lost practice session for Cumberland Highâs wrestling team.
âThis makes me very uncomfortable,â Cumberland coach Steve Gordon was saying on Tuesday morning as another snowstorm hit the region. âI donât have any control over the kidsâ weights when we canât practice. But my guys know what to do. They are pretty good about it. Some of them will go over to Northeast Elite (a wrestling school in Woonsocket) and get a workout in. We canât practice at the school because if school is cancelled, itâs over. You canât practice.â
CUMBERLAND â There may be a âDâ at the end of Cumberland, but when it comes to the high schoolâs hockey team, the âDâ has been front and center for the past several seasons.
After 11 games, the Clippers have surrendered a division-low 17 goals, and news of them being atop this department shouldnât be anything new to those who follow the Division II circuit.

PROVIDENCE --- Woonsocket High earned the dual-meet crown in the Dwyer Division with a sweep of Ponaganset and West Warwick. The Villa Novans, last yearâs divisional champions, concluded a perfect 8-0 season in the league.
âOne of the goals this year was to try and go undefeated,â said WHS coach Dan Richard. âI am not sure a Woonsocket girlsâ team has ever done that in indoor. That was one of the goals. We got some new girls out this year that helped. Itâs been a good year. They worked hard in practice and stayed focused on what we needed to do.â
WOONSOCKET --- Sophomore Cody LâHeureux had one of the best games of his young high school career on Monday night, as he scored 18 points in a losing cause in Woonsocket Highâs 73-56 defeat at home to Cranston West High.
Jabree Roberts added 13 points and Jarome Robinson also tossed in 11 for the Villa Novans, who are 1-12 in Division I play and 4-14 overall.

WOONSOCKET --- After cruising to a pair of lopsided Division I victories over the weekend, Mount St. Charles Academy got just what it needed on Monday night -- a competitive contest against one of the top public school teams in Eastern Mass.
The Mounties turned in one of their best games of the season and received strong contributions from all three of their lines and goaltender Dan Foster in a closer-than-it-appears 5-0 win over Needham High at Adelard Arena.
