WOONSOCKET- Madeleine Bastien 73, of Cumberland Hill Rd. died Thursday in Oakland Grove Health Care Center.
She was born in Woonsocket a daughter of the late Leo and Delphine (Charland) Bruneault. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bastien is survived by two sons Roland Bastien and Stanley Bastien and his wife Lisa all of Woonsocket and two grandchildren. She was also the mother- in-law of the late Natalie Bastien.

Susan Jarosz
JOHNSTON- Susan Jarosz 57, of Morgan Ave. died Thursday at Milford Hospital.
She was born in Woonsocket a daughter of Margaret(Charland) St. Jean of Woonsocket and the late Norman Blanchette.
Susan worked for Family Resources Community Action in Woonsocket for twenty-five years as the Director of Homeless and Supervisor of the Family Shelter.

WOONSOCKET â Tax season is here and Community Action Rhode Island wants working families to know they can receive help with the preparation of their tax returns and applications for federal income tax credits.
In fact, low income families may be eligible for tax credit refunds averaging $2,100 per filer and as much as $5,666 per filer under the federal Earned Income Tax Credit guidelines.

NORTH SMITHFIELD â Town Administrator Paulette D. Hamilton will hold two Town Hall-style meetings with seniors this week at Scouter's Hall, 13 Main St.
The first will be held Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m; the second is on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Hamilton said this is an opportunity for residents to discuss issues that are affecting them as well as for her to provide information regarding current issues.

Steve Morse, of Blackstone, escapes the winter blahs, albeit for 12 minutes, in a tanning bed Saturday at Beach Tanning, located at 3 Main St. in Blackstone. With all the snow this winter, some seek respite in any way they can.
BURRILLVILLE --- The Burrillville/Ponaganset co-op team has landed in a territory that it hasnât occupied in a number of seasons.

The talented first line of Kelsey Koprusak, Katie Couture, and Kerri Nadeau supplied all the scoring, and the defense brought out its âAâ game to stop one of the stateâs highest scoring teams on Saturday night and help capture a 4-0 victory over La Salle Academy at Levy Arena.

WOONSOCKET â The School Committee gained another week to review the cityâs recently completed performance audit of school operations thanks to the heavy snowstorm on Wednesday and Thursday.
The panel had been set to hear a presentation of auditor B&E Consultingâs findings on ways to lower school budget costs on Wednesday but was forced to postpone the meeting to this coming Wednesday in light of the storm.
WOONSOCKET â Despite the efforts of the firefighters union to block the move in Superior Court, a new effort by Mayor Leo T. Fontaine to rein in overtime at the fire department by scaling back the amount of firefighting apparatus will go into effect as planned tomorrow.
WOONSOCKET â Mount St. Charles continued its unbeaten ways Friday night, rolling to a 7-0 win over Lincoln at Adelard Arena. The first-place Mounties improve to 9-0-1 in Division I while the Lions drop to 2-8-1.
MSC grabbed a 3-0 lead after one period behind goals from Trevor Plante, Alex Erban and Callan Morisseau, who finished with two goals. Ryan Berard jumped into the scoring column with a goal and an assist in the second period while Plante netted his second goal of the game in the third period. Benjamin Heroux wrapped up the scoring at 13:34 of the third stanza.
