Roger W. Carriere

WOONSOCKET- Roger W. Carriere, 79, of Popular St., died Wednesday December 21, 2011, in the Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Center, with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Gariepy) Carriere.
Born in ST. Ives, Canada, son of the late Henri and Aldea (Roy) Carriere.
Mr. Carriere, was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
He worked as a welder for Jannell & Son, for 20 years prior to retiring.

Daniele Inc. donates to Food Bank

PASCOAG — When Daniele Inc. Fine Charcuterie in Pascoag produces its premium gourmet meats, the process involves slicing meats to be packaged for consumers.
The byproduct is high-quality meat trimmings that Daniele, Inc. has donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, where it can be distributed to hungry families.
Daniele’s donation last week of 35,000 pounds of meat is part of an annual donation that ranges from 60,000 to 80,000 pounds, said Garrett Fortune of Daniele’s inventory control department.

WOONSOCKET- Muriel G. (Daigle) Moniz, 52, of Woonsocket passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was the loving mother of Crystal Ann Moniz of Providence and the fiance of William F. Small.
Born in Woonsocket on January 10, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Roland A. and Helen (Drainville) Daigle.

BURRILLVILLE- Jennie Nolda, 91, of Ashton Court passed away on Monday December 19, 2011 at Overlook Nursing Home.
A lifelong resident of Burrillville, Jennie was born June 1, 1920 in Mapleville, RI. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Tekla (Gondek) Nolda.
Jennie worked for the First National Store in Greenville, retiring in 1982. To keep herself active, she was a member of both the Burrillville and Glocester Senior Citizen Group, as well as the former Rosary and Altar Society at Our Lady of Good Help Church.

Clippers flying high in Division II-North

WOONSOCKET -- The senior class is one of its smallest in a number of years.
The number of players that graduated from last season’s Division II-North championship club, including six of the top eight scorers and one of the finest goaltenders in the team’s history, was one of its largest.
And several players who are featured in key positions have little or no varsity experience.
But despite all this, Cumberland has been the talk of the division and the area’s only team with a ‘0’ in the loss column.

New Woonsocket officers sworn in

WOONSOCKET – Nearly all of them speak at least a little Spanish, one’s learning sign language and another’s been patrolling the corridors of a federal penitentiary a couple of miles away.
They’re five new members of the Woonsocket Police Department, sworn in yesterday at police headquarters after graduating from the state Municipal Police Academy in Lincoln.
“They’re very special people,” said Police Chief Thomas Carey. “Hundreds of people apply for these jobs. We try to get the best people we possibly can.”

LINCOLN- Esther J. (Barry) Blake, 98, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in The Holiday Retirement Home in Lincoln. She was the wife of the late Vincent J. Blake who died in 1976.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late James and Clara (Liberty) Barry.

BURRILLVILLE- Constance R. Lapierre 90, resident of Nasonville, passed away December 19, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center.
She was the loving wife of the late Ernest A. Lapierre.
Born September 11, 1921 in North Smithfield, daughter of the late Theodore & Flora (Ferrier) Lagace.

WOONSOCKET- Eugene E. Forand, 76, of Greene St., died peacefully after a long illness with family by his side on Monday, December 19, 2011 in Roger Williams Hospital, Providence.
Born in Manville, he was the son of the late Emile N. and Leone (Reney) Forand.
He owned and operated Gene's Motor Sales, Uxbridge, MA for twenty-one years, before retiring in 1997 and had also served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. He loved working with his hands, painting, drawing and watching crime dramas.

WOONSOCKET- Muriel C. Laplume 86, of 230 Dulude Ave. died Monday at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Roland H. Laplume.
A lifelong city resident, she was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Maurice and Rena (Bouchard) Blain.
