Nazare Pedro

WOONSOCKET- Nazare (Matias) Pedro, 95, of East School St. St. Germain Manor, died April 19, 2012, in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Anacleto Pedro.
Born in Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Matias.
Nazare worked as a housekeeper for the former Woonsocket Hospital, now Landmark Medical Center and as a stitcher for Fashion Sportswear until retiring.
She was a member of the Portuguese Continental Union.

WORCESTER- Edward J. LeBlanc Jr., 87, of 26 Harvard St. formerly of North Smithfield, died April 11, 2012 in the Lutheran Healthcare Center, Worcester.
Born in Slatersville, R.I. son of the late Edward J. and Blanche (Marceau) LeBlanc.
He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in WW11.
Mr. LeBlanc worked as a Painter for M. L. McDonalds, in Boston, until retiring.
He was a former member of the VFW Post 1273 in Central Falls.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA- John S. Lemek, 90 of last residence, Las Vegas, Nevada, died on January 21, 2012.
John was one of seven children, had is survived by one sister, Loretta Heroux.
Denise Caccavale/Lemek had been his caretaker for the past 3 years.
Denis and Denise are the children of John and Jeannine.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Church on May 2nd at 9:00 am.
All attendees are invited to attend, and would hope that all will join his family In the celebration of his life following the service.

PAWTUCKET- Rose Eva (Beauvais) Depot, 84, of Pond Street, passed away Wednesday, April 18, at Trinity Health and Rehabilitation, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Conrad L. Depot.
Born in Sherbrooke, QC, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Leona (Fleurant) Beauvais. She resided in Pawtucket for the past 25 years, previously residing in Manville.

Woman charged with failure to report a death

WOONSOCKET — A city woman got in a car accident in Smithfield Wednesday morning while driving the vehicle of a man who was later found dead in his apartment in Johnston, according to state police.
Dawn E. Utting, 45, of 75 Union St., was arraigned in Kent County District Court Thursday on charges of failure to report a certain death, reckless driving and operating on a suspended license. She was ordered held without bail at the ACI pending a hearing as a probation violator on a prior domestic disorderly conduct charge.

WOONSOCKET – Plastic bags of litter dangle neatly from the branches of trees. Scavenged bits of furniture are arranged into makeshift outdoor dining nooks, beside the tents. Nearby, a green-necked duck splashes down in the Blackstone River, looking for the expected handout.
“We have our animal friends,” says Ray Greeno. “We’re happy here.”
A Vietnam veteran who’s been homeless for months, Greeno, 57, has been living in a tent on the banks of the Blackstone River since the beginning of the month, when the overnight shelter at Harvest Church closed for the season.

WOONSOCKET — Playing tight, or extra-inning, tilts is becoming quite the norm for Burrillville High.
Back on April 11, the Broncos snatched a 10-6, 10-frame affair against Central Falls, then – the very next day – lost to red-hot Johnston, 6-5, in nine. And, on Tuesday, it overcame an early deficit and edged North Smithfield, 10-9, with a run in the back half of the seventh.

Mistakes cost softball Novans

WOONSOCKET — Three throwing errors, three walks, some mental miscues, and a couple of squeeze bunts in the final two innings of play added up to a disappointing loss for Woonsocket on Thursday afternoon.
Visiting South Kingstown erased a 2-1 deficit by scoring five unearned runs in those frames and found themselves busing home with a 7-2 victory in this Division II crossover game at Cold Spring Park.

WOONSOCKET- Leo J. Jarret, 67, of Woonsocket, passed away on April 17th at home after battling Lung Cancer.
Leo is survived by his wife of 22 years Maureen A. (Boulris) Jarret. Leo was born in Woonsocket on November 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Leo & Rina (Landry) Jarret. Leo also leaves behind his children, James & Timothy Jarret, Deanna Vadnais, Kathryn Cournoyer, Johnathan & Richard E. Gagne and Tammy Angle. A brother John Jarret also 9 Grandchildren and a Great Granddaughter.
In accordance with Leo's wishes, his Funeral & Burial will be Private.

ALABAMA- DOGAN, William Henry, age 94, recently a resident of Wetumpka and Montgomery, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 after a brief illness.
He was born in Manassas, Virginia, on January 27, 1918, the son of William and Frances Dogan, grew up on the family farm there, graduated from high school in nearby Haymarket, Virginia, and later joined the U.S. Navy in 1937.
