Carmelo "Babe" Lemme
WOONSOCKET- Carmelo "Babe" Lemme, Cam passed away on March 26, 2012 At the Trinity Health & Rehabilitation Ctr. In Woonsocket of Pneumonia, "Babe", as he was known to his friends was a well known Woonsocket citizen.
He was born on July 12, 1929, son of the late Peter & Mary (Petraca) Lemme.
He resided in Woonsocket all his life. While serving in the ARMY National Guard, he attained the rank of Master SGT, (E7) in Company B, 118th Engineer Battalion.
Elza E. Saletnik
BURRILLVILLE- Elza E. Saletnik, 94, a lifelong resident of Pascoag, passed away on Friday April 27, 2012 in the Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pascoag.
Born in Framingham, MA, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Stanislawa (Maliga) Saletnik.
BURRILLVILLE- Alfred Cournoyer, 83, died Friday, April 27, 2012 in Bayberry Commons, Pascoag. He was the husband of Lillian (Choquette) Cournoyer of Pascoag, whom he married on May 30, 1950.
Born in Slatersville, he was the son of the late Nazaire and Eva (Guertin) Cournoyer.
Alfred worked as a Caster at American Standard of Wauregan, CT for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of VFW Post in Florida and of Pascoag Knights of Columbus. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
UXBRIDGE, MA- Shirley (Russell) Picchioni, 78, of North Uxbridge died Tuesday April 24, 2012 in Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehab. Center, Northbridge. She was the wife of John V. Picchioni, Sr.
A longtime resident of North Uxbridge, Mrs. Picchioni was employed as a registered nurse at Landmark Hospital in Woonsocket for many years. Later, she worked for St. Vincents Hospital and Beaumont Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1933 in Worcester, daughter of the late Raymond and Regina (Paquin) Russell and was a graduate of St. Vincents School of Nursing, Worcester.
Alan K. Remillard
BELLINGHAM- Alan K. Remillard, 52, of Bellingham, MA passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA with his family and fiancee by his side after being stricken at home earlier in the week. He was the beloved fianc of Nancy Beschi and they were to be married on July 13, 2013.
Born on December 30, 1959, he was the son of the late Leo R. and Viola R. "Dolly" (Lajoie) Remillard.
Albert Lee Gaffney
WOONSOCKET- Albert Lee Gaffney, Sr., 80, of Pine St. Woonsocket, died Thursday at Trinity Health Center. He was the loving husband of Ethel M. (Jeter) Gaffney.
Born in South Carolina, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Troxcell (Gibson) Gaffney. He was a resident of Woonsocket for the past 46 years.
Mr. Gaffney was employed by Hyman Brickle Corporation for many years until his retirement 20 years ago.

PROVIDENCE â€” Americaâ€™s most successful and respected high school hockey coach will be presented with the R. I. Reds Heritage Societyâ€™s R. I. Native-born Hockey Achievement Award. WOONSOCKET â€“ State Reps. Robert D. Phillips (D-Dist. 51, Woonsocket), Lisa Baldelli-Hunt (D-Dist. 49, Woonsocket) and Jon D. Brien (D-Dist. 50, Woonsocket) have invited Rhode Island Housing to hold an informational meeting about the Hardest Hit Fund Rhode Island for at-risk homeowners.
The meeting will be held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. in Harris Hall, 169 Main St. and include a breakdown of changes to HHFRI that will make it easier for struggling homeowners to obtain assistance with mortgage payments.
