CUMBERLAND - Roland J. Cormier, 83, of Knoll Crest Drive, Cumberland, died Wednesday at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the loving husband of Fernande Y. (Parent) Cormier. They were married on June 10, 1950.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late George and Rose (Gileau) Cormier. He lived in Albion for several years and resided in Cumberland for over 45 years.
Mr. Cormier was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy, Class of 1945. He also attended Massachusetts State College (now UMass) at Amherst.
LINCOLN - DeCotis Joan, M (Godin) a longtime teacher of the Cumberland Public and Woonsocket Catholic School systems, passed away Wednesday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a fifteen year long battle with lung cancer. She was 67.
NORTHFIELD, Vt. â Lincoln High alum Anthony Joyce has earned a starting job at heavyweight for the Norwich University wrestling program.
Joyce finished fourth last weekend in the Rochester Institute of Technology tournament to continue a strong start to his sophomore season.
âI have a 14-10 record so far,â Joyce admitted over the phone on Monday night. âIâm a more well-rounded wrestler now than I was in high school. I hurt my hand in football in my freshman year of college and this year I decided to just focus on wrestling.â

Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Romeo T. and Flore Ida (Gaulin) Plante.
Pearl was a molder and coordinator at the Tupperware Corporation for 24 years, until her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed gardening and bowling and was an avid Patriots fan.
WOONSOCKET - Johnie Allen, 89, of Rhodes Ave., died December 4, 2011, in the Oakland Grove Health & Rehabilitation Center, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Ulersee (Scurry) Allen.
Born in Newbury, South Carolina, son of the late Frances (Spearman) Allen.
Mr. Allen was a United States Army Veteran, serving in WWII. Mr. Allen worked for the US Rubber Co. for 25 years and also for the Woonsocket School Department for 16 years.
WEBSTER, FL. - Timothy Daniel Dumas, 38, of Webster, Florida, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Webster, FL. He was born December 9, 1972 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
Mr. Dumas worked at Wal-Mart in Bushnell as a Frozen Food Associate for 8 yrs. He was a member of United Community Fellowship, Wildwood, FL.
