CUMBERLAND â€“ Winning another Northern Division title would be nice, but thatâ€™s not the No. 1 priority for head coach Tom Kenwood and his Cumberland High squad this fall.
With a talented team with plenty of depth, the Clippers are hoping to place among the top six at the state meet in early November and earn a ticket to the New England Championship. The last time thatâ€™s been done was the 2005-06 season when the Cumberland placed third behind team champion Bishop Hendricken.
Leonard E. Plasse, Jr.
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Leonard "Lenny" E. Plasse, Jr., 70, a lifelong resident of North Smithfield, died September 18, 2011 at the Summit Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Providence surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 21, 1941 in Woonsocket, RI, a son of the late Leonard, Sr. & Doris (Romprey) Plasse, he was the loving husband of Gladys (Steere) Plasse.
Chester S. Makowski
MIAMISBURG, OH- Chester S. Makowski, 86, of Miamisburg, OH passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Elmcroft Assisted Living, after battling cancer for the last year.
Chet was born in Hatfield, MA on January 14, 1925 to the late Stella (Kacsinski) and Michael A. Makowski.
In addition to his parents, Chet was preceded in death by his brother, Michael and his wives, Frances Brown (1976) and Doris Gibson Yaindl (2003).
He was a resident of Pascoag, RI for over 35 years.
STILWELL, KS- Roger DeVuyst A memorial mass celebrating the life of Roger DeVuyst will be held at St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave Woonsocket, RI on Monday the 26th of September, 2011 at 10am.
Roger DeVuyst, a life long resident of Woonsocket and owner of Roger's Restaurant on Hamlet Ave in Woonsocket, passed at the home of his son in Stilwell, KS on Feb 7 of this year.
All friends and acquaintances are invited to attend the services.
A short gathering of friends, and relations will be held immediately after the services in the church hall.
WOONSOCKET â€” The cop who coaxed a confession from serial killer Jeff Mailhot in 2004 has just added another notch on his belt â€” a seat at the next installment of the FBI National Academy.
Beginning Oct. 3, Detective Capt. Edward J. Lee Jr. will live at the prestigious academy in Quantico, Va., for about ten weeks while taking advanced courses in violent crime, computer forensics and others.
And, oh yeah, Mailhot's going with him, too â€“ or at least his case file.

LINCOLN- Ludovico "Lou" Tomasso Jr. 83, passed away Saturday September 17, 2011. He was the husband of 58 years to Gloria (Petrucci) Tomassso.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Ludovico and Maria (Palombo) Tomasso.
Mr. Tomasso was a Finance Director for the Providence Housing Authority for 23 years until retiring in 2010. Previously he was employed as a Financial Manager for the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Davisville and a Controller at the US Naval Readiness Command, Newport.

NO. SMITHFIELD- Joseph G. Baillargeon, 87, of Black Plain Rd., No. Smithfield, died Friday, September 16, 2011 at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of Muriel A. (Marcoux) Baillargeon, whom he married October 12, 1950.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Wilfred J. and Angelina A. (Gladu) Baillargeon.
