Mary A. McGuill
NASONVILLE- Mary A. McGuill, 81, resident of Nasonville passed away June 23, 2011 at her home.
Loving wife to the late Edward H. McGuill.
Born Oct. 8, 1929 in Britton SD, a daughter of the late Alfred & Lydia (Schnabel) Johnson.
Mary was a secretary for the Burrillville School Department for many years; she was a lifelong Burrillville resident. She enjoyed traveling and working outdoors.
Emile P. Goyette
UXBRIDGE- Emile P. Goyette, 87, of High St. died Fri. June 24, at his home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 56 years Theresa "Laura" (Graveson) Goyette died in 2007.
Miriam L. Baldwin
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Miriam L. (Baker) Baldwin, 82, formerly of Slatersville died Monday, June 20, 2011 in Overlook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Pascoag. She was the wife of the late William B. Baldwin.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late James and Grace (Sugden) Baker.
She was a former member of the Slatersville Congregational Church.
She is survived by her son, Richard W. Baldwin of Slatersville. She was the mother of the late Harold A. Baldwin.
WOONSOCKET â A city man was indicted Thursday on charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 25-year-old pregnant woman and then trying to persuade a witness to lie about the attack.
The Providence County grand jury charged Jason Nickerson, 30, with four counts of domestic first-degree sexual assault and attempting to procure perjury.
Nickerson is also charged with one count each of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault with intent to commit sexual assault.
WOONSOCKET â The School Committee has tapped retired Connecticut and Lincoln Superintendent of Schools, Colette B. Trailor, to fill the local districtâs available interim superintendent post.
On Wednesday night, the committee voted 4 to 1, with member Vimala Phongsavanh opposed, to name Trailor as departing Supt. Robert J. Gerardiâs temporary replacement.
Anna L. Gaboury
BELLINGHAM, MA- Anna L. (Roy) Gaboury, 91, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and her wonderful caregivers at the Ballou Home in Woonsocket, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Omer R. Gaboury, who died December 25, 2008.
They were married on June 7, 1941, in the former St. Ann's Church in Woonsocket.
Anna was born April 5, 1920, in St. Francis Province of Quebec. Canada, the daughter of the late Urbain and Marie Louise (Ducheneau) Roy.
John S. Wikiera MSW, ACSW, LIC.SW
WOONSOCKET- John S. Wikiera, 59, of Blackstone Street, Woonsocket, R.I. passed away on Thursday June 16, 2011, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Emil and Ann (Herman) Wikiera.
John was a graduate of URI, obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master's Degree in Social Work and John pursued a career in Sociological Counseling.
He was an avid fisherman.
MILLVILLE â Voters in the special election Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected two Proposition 2-1/2 override ballot questions.
By a vote of 415 to 126, voters defeated Question 1, which had asked residents to act on a $300,000 override to fund general government for fiscal 2012, which begins July 1.
By a vote of 382 to 157, voters also rejected Question 2, which asked residents to act on a $100,000 override for the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District.
WOONSOCKET â The city has begun seizing the trash carts of property owners who have ignored repeated requests to make good on overdue curbside collection fees.
It's all part of a new effort to recoup roughly $250,000 in delinquent trash fees, said Public Works Director Sheila McGauvran.
âIt's a last resort,â she said. âWe don't want to be doing it. We want people to pay their bills.â
âIâve seen the old videos from the parades (when the Boston Bruins won titles in â70 & â72) back when they were held at City Hall Plaza. You definitely donât want to put the horse before the cart, but you canât help but think what the celebration would entail. They would have to break out the duck boats.â
