Antonio F. Gabriel

NORTH ATTLEBORO- Antonio F. Gabriel, 85, of Leo P. Sarrazin Road, North Attleboro; formerly of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; died following a long illness on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham where he had been a resident for more than three years. He was the beloved husband of Judite (Moreira) Gabriel with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Lloyd E. Gray Sr.

MILLVILLE, MA- Lloyd E. Gray Sr., 76, of Old Chestnut Hill Rd. died Thursday December 16, 2010 at Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford. He was the husband of Ruth N. (Shinn) Gray.
Mr. Gray was employed at the former General Motors Assembly Plant in Framingham, MA until his retirement in 1989.
He was born Nov. 21, 1934 in Millville, son of the late George O. and Anna (Curtis) Gray. He was a graduate of Blackstone High School.
Mr. & Mrs. Gray observed their 55th wedding anniversary on Aug. 13, 2010.
Mr. Gray served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

COVENTRY — Jennifer and Melissa Schroeder Rondeau reckon that since April they have kept 16,800 disposable diapers out of the state landfill.
That feat may not seem noteworthy at first glance, until you realize it takes a disposable diaper, at best, about 250 to 500 years to decompose.

School committee considering 'at will' status for principals

WOONSOCKET -- Local principals haven't received a pay increase for the past five years, but during that time they could count on past individual contractual agreements for a bit of job security.
Now, it appears the school department's ongoing fiscal troubles may be putting the local school leaders at risk.
Members of the school committee this week debated whether the school department's nine principals should serve "at will" and be open to layoffs at any time.

Still perfect: Mount beats Hendricken

WARWICK — After kicking off its season with four straight games against public schools, Mount St. Charles finally faced one of its longtime parochial rivals on Saturday night in Bishop Hendricken.
And the Mounties rose to the occasion and made very good on this featured battle of unbeatens.
Alex Erban’s two goals and Brian Campbell’s goal and assist keyed a well-played second period by the Mounties, and Trevor Plante’s division-leading 10th goal of the season late in the game sealed a big 4-2 victory over Hendricken at Thayer Arena.

Area athletes excel at RITCA Invitational

PROVIDENCE — The R.I. Track Coaches Association (RITCA) Invitational, the first major meet of the indoor track season, produced some outstanding efforts from local athletes Saturday afternoon.
Woonsocket High’s speedy foursome of Jalen Evans, Anthony Neal, Alex Correia and Tyler Bourk ran a season-best of 1 minute, 37.7 seconds to tie for third place in the 4x200-meter relay.
Neal also placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches and Correia took sixth overall in the long jump with a distance of 19-11 1/2.

Mounties survive scare from Burrillville

WOONSOCKET - Burrillville High did everything it possibly could to give Mount St. Charles Academy a spirited run for its money on Friday night, but the defending state champs still found a way to get the job done.
And the Mounties got the job done by spoiling a truly brilliant performance by junior goaltender Jacob Toback, who masterfully turned away 43 shots in a 2-0 triumph by the defending state champions at Adelard Arena.

MANVILLE - Anna Latour, 97, died Thursday at Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph Eugene Latour. Born in Manville, a daughter of the late Adelard and Laura (Laplante) Bruneau, she had lived in Manville most of her life. She was the mother of the late Gloria Almeida and Rene Latour and the sister of the late Bertha Girard, Fabiola Gauvin, Anita Champagne, Melina Ouellette, Lucille Bourassa. She is survived by 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

WARWICK, RI- Antonina (Demkiewicz) Trybalski 83, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Alicja A. and her husband Robert Chapman of Warwick. She was the loving wife to the late Mieczyslaw Trybalski.
Born, April 18, 1927 in Przemysl, Poland, She was the daughter of the late Victold and Teofila (Siewerga )Demkiewicz, she came to this country in 1966 settling in Woonsocket before moving to Warwick.
She was employed as an assembler for the Universal Optical Co. in No. Attleboro before retiring.
