John F. Emidy
BLACKSTONE - John F. Emidy, 58, of Blackstone, MA, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 in Maine. He was the beloved husband for 37 years of Cynthia A. (Eaton) Emidy. He was the loving father of Daniel P. Emidy of Blackstone, MA. Born in Woonsocket, RI on April 1, 1956, he was the son of the late James H. and Jacqueline M. (Gelinas) Emidy, Jr.
Gerald P. Beaulieu
HARRISVILLE - Gerald P. Beaulieu, 57, died May 14, 2014 at home.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of Roger G. Beaulieu of Woonsocket and the late Henriette "Penny" (Guilbert) Beaulieu. He was raised in Blackstone and lived in Woonsocket before moving to Harrisville over 20 years ago.
Gerry was employed by Cardi Constriction Corp and in his younger years he served with the U.S. Merchant Marines. Gerry was an expert scuba diver and held his pilot's license.
He is survived by a sister Diane Courtier and many relatives and friends.
Marcel R. Lavergne
CUMBERLAND - Marcel R. Lavergne, 80, formerly of Warwick and Plainville, MA, passed away Tuesday at the Heritage Hills Nursing Home, Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Dow) Lavergne.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rosalie Lavergne. He resided in Smithfield for the past 2 years, previously residing in Warwick, Plainville, and Bellingham for many years.
Mr. Lavergne was employed as a Union Carpenter for 48 years.
Yvette P. Frappier
WOONSOCKET - Yvette P. Frappier 97, of Clinton St., died Sunday in Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Rene Frappier.
Yvette was born in Woonsocket the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose Anna (Beauregard) Lachapelle. She was a stitcher for the former Woonsocket Dress Co. Yvette was also active in her community serving as a member of the Kennedy Manor Assoc., The ARC of Northern RI, and the Woonsocket Emblem Club, where she served as its chaplain, and was a member of the Emblem Club First Guard.
WOONSOCKET â€“ Citing safety issues, city Director of Public Works Steve Dâ€™Agostino is recommending against opening the municipal skating rink in River Island Park this season.
The artificially-refrigerated rink has struggled with maintenance and repair issues for some time, but this would be the first season it hasnâ€™t opened since it was built in 1999 if Dâ€™Agostinoâ€™s advice stands.
He said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt is asking him to explore options for rehabilitating the rink, but at this point there are no plans of opening it this season.
Juliette T. Kalenkiewicz
WOONSOCKET - Juliette T. (Pouliot) Kalenkiewicz, 96, of Woonsocket, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Oakland Grove Health Care Center.
She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Kalenkiewicz. Born in Winnipegosis, Canada on June 27, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Elmina (Asselin) Pouliot. She was the twin sister of Stella Bonin of Pawtucket, RI, and the late Joseph, Ernest, Willie, Adelard, Gabrielle Pouliot, and Yvette Durocher. She leaves her cherished nieces and nephews,
Garry Bruce Olson
WOONSOCKET - Garry Bruce Olson, 60, died at home on November 23rd after suffering from a long illness with his loving wife Gail by his side.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island he was the beloved son of Margaret Manso Olson and Oscar Wendall Olson.
Garry served in the army for 2 years.
After serving, Garry owned his own construction company for over 20 years before retiring.
During his retirement Garry enjoyed yard sales, antiques and finding "the next best deal".
Regina T. Verhulst
WOONSOCKET - Regina T. Verhulst 95, of 24 Poplar St. died Thursday, November 27, 2014. She was born in Paris, France, on October 7, 1919, a daughter of the late Francois and Julia Josephine (Pontvianne) Verhulst.
Nina worked as a forelady for Woonsocket Combs Co. for thirty five years until her retirement. She was in the Red Cross Road Service during WWII. In her younger years she enjoyed horseback riding, traveling and her cats. She gave to various charities, including diabetes, American Indians and pet welfare.
Roger J. Fisette
WOONSOCKET - Roger J. Fisette 85, of MacArthur Rd. died Wednesday at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of Leona (Boisvert) Fisette. They celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary, November 22, 2014. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Theodore and Odila (Jalbert) Fisette. He was a graduate of Mt St. Charles Academy.
