Stocks liftted by lower oil E-mail

U.S. stocks began the trading week higher after a rise in the dollar pushed oil below last week's record peak. FedEx slashed its quarterly profit forecast due to record energy costs. TNT pushes zero emission delivery E-mail

The Dutch delivery giant, TNT, aims to create a carbon neutral operation in the decades ahead. It's just unveiled a fleet of electrically powered vehicles which is being rolled out across Britain. TNT also plans similar moves around Europe in the months ahead as well as further afield, but green sceptics might wonder whether the ambition amounts to an emission impossible. Thousands in GM food protest E-mail

5000 people protest against genetically-modified food in Bonn, before the German city hosts a U.N. Conference on Biological Diversity. Participants at the conference will discuss international protection measures for cross-border transfer of GM plants such as rice and soya. The conference comes at a time of soaring global costs of food and fears of worldwide food shortages. Protesters in Bonn say they also want to promote biodiversity as a means of ensuring food security. Joanna Partridge reports for Reuters
