Nil Whitton

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Nil Whitton, 69, of Edward Ave., Slatersville, died Monday, October 11, 2010 in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Pierrette (Belanger) Whitton whom he married July 6, 1968.
Born in Quebec, Canada, he was the son of the late Aime and Eliza (Fortin) Whitton. Nil had lived in Woonsocket prior to moving to Slatersville in 1978.
Mr. Whitton was the owner of Whitton Drywall, Inc. He was a member of the RI Builders Association and American Canadian Association and was a Communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, travelling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Pierrette, he is survived by their three children, Sandra Roth and her husband, John of Wellesley, MA, Alan Whitton and his wife, Stacey and Karen Whitton all of No. Smithfield, six brothers, Aurel, Claude, Paul-Aime, Gilles and Jean-Yves Whitton and a sister, Odette Cloutier, all of Quebec, Canada and four grandchildren, Abigail and Alexander Roth and Lucas and Logan Whitton. He was the brother of the late Raynald Whitton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Noon in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket.
