MSC spikers improve to 14-1 |

PROVIDENCE – Mount St. Charles Academy moved one victory away from clinching a share of the Division II-North championship on Monday night by rolling to a 3-0 triumph over Mount Pleasant High at the Kilties’ gym. The Mounties seized the match by scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-10 to nail down their eighth straight win and improve to 14-1, the same mark as Cranston West High. Liz Frigon produced another solid game for Mount, nailing 11 kills and serving 2 aces. Frontcourt teammate Maria Saia added 5 kills and 2 aces. From the backline, Elizabeth Alexander contributed 16 assists while also serving 4 aces. The Mounties, who split their regular-season series with the Falcons, conclude the regular season on Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. match at Scituate High. They will begin playoff action next week.
