By JOSEPH FITZGERALD BURRILLVILLE — A Harrisville man could face kidnapping and attempted murder charges after allegedly beating, torturing and holding against his will a 34-year-old man he had been living with since January, police said.
Domenic R. Dimuccio, 43, of 295 Sherman Farm Road, Harrisville, was arrested Feb. 7 and charged with two counts of first degree domestic sexual assault and three counts of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, police said. Police are also seeking additional charges from the grand jury, including kidnapping, assault with intent to commit murder and assault with intent to commit first degree sexual assault. According to Police Lt. Kevin SanAntonio, the alleged crimes took place between Jan. 1 and Feb. 6. The two men had been living together as roommates at Dimuccio's Harrisville home since January, but were not involved in any type of romantic situation, according to police. Police were tipped off after the department received a call on Feb. 7 from a doctor at Rhode Island Hospital who had treated the alleged victim. SanAntonio said the victim, who the department is not identifying, suffered injuries that took place between Jan. 1 and Feb. 6, and that the victim told investigators that during that time he had been beaten, tortured and had his life threatened. On one occasion, the victim was also tied and bound in a trailer on Dimuccio's property and held against his will, police said. There was more than once instance of alleged torture, but SanAntonio would not elaborate, citing an ongoing police investigation. Police decided to seek grand jury charges following a second interview with the victim on Monday. Following that conversation, police got a warrant to search Dimuccio's property Wednesday,\, where they allegedly uncovered evidence that supports the additional charges. Dimuccio was arraigned on Feb. 8 before Sixth District Court Judge Madeline Quirk and is being held without bail. Detectives Wayne Richardson and Guy Riendeau are continuing to investigate. |
