BURRILLVILLE — An 18-year-old man is in critical condition after a head-on crash Tuesday night on Route 102.

Christopher Plante, 18, of Pascoag, was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence Tuesday. A hospital spokesperson reported on Plante’s condition Wednesday afternoon.
Plante was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
The operator of the second vehicle, Daniel Stack, 56, of Uxbridge, was transported by rescue to Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket. A Landmark spokesperson said Wednesday that Stack had been treated and released.
According to Police Lt. Kevin S. San Antonio, the crash was reported around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Stack was operating a 2006 Ford Taurus north on Route 102, Broncos Highway, when his vehicle collided head-on with a 1997 Honda Civic operated by Plante, according to police. Plante had been driving in the opposite direction..
According to San Antonio, Stack’s car crossed the center stripe and smashed into Plante’s. Police have not yet determined whether the Taurus was operating without its headlights on, as reported by a witness to the collision, according to San Antonio.
The accident remains under investigation by the Burrillville Police Department. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene, according to police. Police closed down Route 102 for nearly four hours Tuesday to investigate the incident.
