MILFORD, Mass. — A Cumberland man was arrested last week after allegedly threatening to shoot his co-workers at a glass-manufacturing facility in Milford. No one was injured in the incident.

Milford police arrested Scott F. Roderick, 25, of 51 Ballou St., Cumberland, on Tuesday after police were called to Roderick’s place of employment — the Saint Gobain Containers on National Street.
Police received a call around 8:30 a.m. from a manager of the Saint Gobain Containers, a glass manufacturer that produces glass bottles for several well-known products, such as Budweiser beer.
According to police, Roderick made several threatening statements to managers at the company.
“He apparently made some comments to managers that he ‘should get a gun and shoot everybody,’” said Sgt. David Sacco of the Milford Police Department. “The managers took the appropriate action and called the police. The managers specifically expressed concern for the safety of their employees.”
Roderick was arrested and charged with threatening to commit a crime to wit murder. According to police, Roderick has had no prior run-ins with the Milford police.
“We never had any interaction with him other than this isolated incident,” said Sacco.
Roderick was arraigned on Thursday in Milford District Court. He is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference on May 19 in Milford.
The Cumberland resident had been an employee of the glass manufacturing company for about five years. According to Sacco, Roderick was terminated due to the incident.
The Saint Gobain Containers company employees more than 300 employees at the Milford facility. The company, which is headquartered in Muncie, Ind., operates 14 facilities throughout North America.
