BURRILLVILLE — Two youths were arrested on felony charges after police responded to two separate reports of bomb threats Thursday at Burrillville Middle School.
Police were first called to the middle school on Broncos Highway on Thursday around 10 a.m., according to Lt. Kevin S. San Antonio of the Burrillville Police Department.

The middle school principal reportedly called police after an individual discovered a handwritten paper note in the boy’s lavatory. The note read “there is a bomb,” according to San Antonio.
Police investigated and later arrested a 12-year-old male student of the middle school. The male youth, a Mapleville resident, was charged with making bomb threats and similar false reports, a felony, according to police.
The principal called police a second time to the school around 11:26 a.m. on Thursday. The school official reported to police that a second threat of a bomb had been discovered. This threat was written in marker on the wall of the girl’s bathroom, according to officials.
Written on the wall were the words “bomb threat,” Thursday’s date and a time of 11:59, according to San Antonio. The middle school was evacuated shortly after the second message was discovered.
Personnel from the State Fire Marshal’s Bomb Squad division were called to the school with bomb-sniffing dogs. No evidence of a bomb was discovered within the school, said San Antonio.
An investigation, under the direction of police and the school’s resource officer, led to the arrest of a 13-year-old female student of the middle school.
The female youth, a resident of Pascoag, was also charged with the felony of making bomb threats and similar false reports.
The two youths have since been released into their parents’ custody pending Family Court action, according to police.
