COCOA, Fla. - Lydia Nerbonne Rivers, beautiful and loving wife, mother and grandmother, died on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the age of 82.
Lydia was born in Rhode Island where she owned and operated Sayles Avenue Beauty Salon for over 20 years. She moved to Florida in 1979  where she continued to work in the hair industry until she went to work for JC Penney. She worked for JC Penney for many years until she retired in 1991. After retiring, Lydia, the energetic and extremely caring person she was, took care of many elderly people helping them with their day to day lives. She enjoyed volunteer work and was active in East Coast Christian Center, having taken several mission trips abroad spreading he wonderful word of God. She touched the lives and hearts of so many people and will be dearly missed.
Her husband of 52 years, John B. Rivers, died in 1999. She is survived by her son George Rivers of Port St. John, FL; two daughers Linda Wooten of Merritt Island, FL, and Kathy Leonard of Woodstock, GA; and two grandsons Jeremy and Joshua Leonard of Woodstock, GA.
There will be no services. Donations in her name may be made to East Coast Christian Center, Mission Department.
