St. Joe's Cards, Terry's Tire prevail |

WOONSOCKET --- The last-place St. Joe's Cardinals upset second- seeded Amvets Yankees 6-3 behind the complete game effort by Ryan Blais in East Woonsocket Little League playoff action. The Cardinals lead the best-of-3 series 1-0. Blais was strong, striking out 9 and letting up only 4 hits while letting up only one earned run. Leading the way offensively for the Cardinals were Jarrick Unwin, Bousquet, Evan White and Conor Kovacich. For Amvets, Joel Lanoue pitched well giving up only 4 hits over the 5 1/3 innings. Wiliam Andino struck out the two batters he faced. Amvets had a home run and a single from Andino while Austin Forget and Todd Ruffin chipped in with hits. *** WOONSOCKET --- Terry’s Tire reached the PONY League championship round with a 9-1 victory over Tyra Club earlier this week. Terry’s will face the winner of Teacher's Credit Union and Tyra Club which will play Monday at Clem Labine Field. The winner of that game will need to defeat Terry's twice to claim the title while Terry’s needs just one victory to clinch. E.J. Torres, Jonathan Flynn and Robert Lavallee combined to pitch a one-hitter and strike out 15 batters for Terry’s in its win over Tyra Club. Kelsey Boucher had the lone hit for Tyra Club. Lavallee led Terry’s offense with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Jesse Gingras, Jon Flynn, Zach Laprade, Andreas Brackett, Larry Cruz and Bam Bam Rodriguez all had timely hits. torres had 7 k's ,flynn 6 k's ,lavallee 2 k's.kory lawrence and kelsey boucher had solid defensive games for tyra club.
