By SANDY McGEE WOONSOCKET — A city man was stabbed by an unknown assailant Friday around 1 a.m. in the parking lot of Aly’s Riverside Pub on River Street, police said.
The victim, a 36-year-old male from Woonsocket, received “non-life threatening” injuries, according to Capt. Walter Warot of the Woonsocket Police Department on Monday. “He (the victim) was treated at a local hospital and has been released,” Warot said. Police said they could not comment about the identity of the weapon, if one was discovered at the scene, or provide further details about the case. Police did say on Monday that the incident was a “stabbing.” No arrests have been made in the case. “We are working on it,” Warot said. “We are following up on leads. We welcome any and all information to get this individual off the streets.” According to police, a large crowd of people witnessed the stabbing on Friday night. “It was a full bar around closing time,” he said. “There were a lot of people present.” Police are seeking any information from witnesses. “If they could offer any assistance, we will keep it as confidential as we can,” Warot said. “Any information will be greatly appreciated.” Anyone with information is asked to call the Woonsocket Police Department at (401) 766-1212 and ask for Detective Blaine Sheppard. |
