WOONSOCKET — A 19-year-old Pawtucket man faces a shooting violation after he went on an alleged vandalism and assault spree with a BB-gun purchased during a visit to the city on Saturday.

Abraham Pitrowski of 41 Wilderness Park, Pawtucket, was charged with firing in a compact area after he was arrested by the police with the help of a local citizen at about 6:20 p.m., Saturday.
Pitrowski allegedly had been attending a cookout in Millville when he and two juveniles, 16 and 17, decided to drive into Woonsocket in a green Pontiac Sunfire to purchase a BB gun at the WalMart Store on Diamond Hill Road. The trio planned to shoot cans with the gun, police said.
But immediately after leaving the store, Pitrowski allegedly began to fire the Grizzly BB-rifle out the window from his seat in the rear of the vehicle as one of the juveniles drove, according to police.
The suspect is alleged to have shot at parked vehicles and other property as the shooting spree continued toward the Privilege Street area.
Once in the area of Privilege, Pitrowski is alleged to have fired the BB-gun at a 14-year-year juvenile male walking on the sidewalk. The teen was not hit by the BB or hurt in the attack, police said. Police said the youth’s mother did not wish to press charges in the incident, police said.
A 26-year-old motorist driving a green van in front of the Sunfire observed the shooting  incident and as the Sunfire turned onto Roland Street, stopped his vehicle to confront the vandals.
Police said the Sunfire struck another vehicle as it tried to back up from the motorist’s stopped green van and two of the occupants attempted to flee the scene on foot at that point.
The operator of the green van pursued the fleeing pair and brought them back to the scene where he also located the BB rifle in the car and a quantity of BBs, police said.
Police seized the rifle, a rifle scope, and box containing 4,000 BBs after arriving at the location.
No injuries were reported in the accident occurring when the trio tried to back away from the approaching green van, police said.
