WOONSOCKET – After struggling for the past two seasons in Division I, Woonsocket returned to Division II competition on Wednesday afternoon – and ran smack into two-time defending champion Moses Brown.
“It was just like playing another Division I team,” Woonsocket coach Pam Paige said with a laugh after the game. “Moses Brown is very talented. We don’t have the skills to match them, although I thought out team played hard and better than I might have expected against such a good team.”
The Quakers scored three goals in the first half before Woonsocket’s defense settled down to play well over the final stanza.
Jen Sito made 12 saves in goal for the Novans.

Tantasqua edges Uxbridge
UXBRIDGE --- Goalie Sarah Ryan turned away 14 shots in a valiant performance for Uxbridge High on Wednesday afternoon in her team’s season-opening 2-1 loss to Tantasqua High.
Libby Richardson scored Uxbridge’s goal with 3:27 to play in the game.
