Seven in Burrillville primary E-mail

BURRILLVILLE — Voters will be asked to narrow the field of seven Democratic candidates for Town Council at Tuesday’s primary election. Voters will whittle the list down to three candidates who will then advance to the general election ballot. The three Democratic candidates will join four unaffiliated candidates seeking three available seats on the council in November.
Polls Tuesday will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the following locations:
Princinct 1 - Pascoag Utility District, 253 Pascoag Main St.; Precinct 2 - Beckwith-Bruckshaw Memorial Lodge, 50 Lodge Road; Precinct 3 - Jesse Smith Memorial Library, 100 Tinkam Lane; Precinct 4 - Berard-Desjarlais Post 88 American Legion, 111 Chapel St.; Precinct 5 - Oakland-Mapleville Fire Station, 46 Oakland School St.; Precinct 6 - Nasonville Fire Station, 2577 Victory Highway.
Only unaffiliated and registered Democrats will be allowed to vote Tuesday.
The seven Democratic candidates for council on the ballot Tuesday are incumbents Nancy Binns, Margaret "Peggy" Dudley and opponents Blake A. Fouracre, Richard T. Frenette, Kevin D. Heitke, Barbara A. Lavergne and Richard N. Teter II.
Binns
Binns, 61, of 273 Church St., a lifelong Burrillville resident, was elected to the Town Council in 2004, serving as its president since 2006. She is a retired physician assistant. A 1964 graduate of Burrillville High School, Binns attended Smith College from 1964 to 1968 and the Yale University physician assistant program from 1985 to 1986.
She is a member of the Berean Baptist Church diaconate board and is a former deputy commander of the Burrillville Ambulance Corps.
Dudley
Dudley, 61, of 10 Mill Pond Road, has been a Burrillville resident for the past 56 years. She is a retired policy and systems analyst with the Rhode Island Department of Human Services and was an employee of the state for more than 30 years. Before that she worked as an elementary school teacher in Long Beach, Calif.
A 1965 graduate of Burrillville High School, Dudley earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Rhode Island in 1969, and graduate credits from Providence College, Rhode Island College and Brown University.
She is a member of the Ocean State Women's Golf Association, North Providence Business and Professional Women's Association, Burrillville Lions Club and Friends of Jesse Smith Library.
She previously served on Burrillville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners,  Burrillville Budget Board and Democratic Town Committee.
Fouracre
Fouracre, 36, of 100 Hillside Drive, has been a Burrillville resident for five years.
He is president of BMS, a division of Ablestar Corporation in Plainville, Mass. He was vice president of Utilitronics Corporation from 2006 until this year.
He attended Wachusett Regional High School prior to studying at Concord University and West Virginia University.
He is a past member of the Harrisville Hose Company No. 1.
Frenette
Frenette of 55 Maple Drive has lived in Burrillville for 64 years.
He is a retired member of the Burrillville Department of Public Works, which he worked for 32 years.
He attended Burrillville High School, before attending and graduating from Associated Engineering Schools of Miami, Fla.
He was a Burrillville Little League manager for 10 years and served as a coach and president of Burrillville Junior Hockey League. He was also a member of the B.J.H.L Booster Club.
He served on the Burrillville Recreation Board as chairman for 20 years and also served as part-time recreation director.
Heitke
Kevin D. Heitke, 44, of 165 Lapham Farm Road, has lived in Burrillville for 18 years.
Heitke is the owner and principal attorney at the Law Office of Kevin D. Heitke.
He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1985 and from the Southwestern University School of Law in 1987.
He is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association; California Bar Association; and was the Nasonville Fire District moderator from 1992 to 2007. He is also a former member of the Burrillville Land Trust.
Lavergne
Lavergne, 54, of 264 Buxton St., has been a town resident of Burrillville for 30 years.
She is the owner of Travelin-Time travel agency and Travelin-Time Tannin, a tanning salon. She attended Our Lady Queen of Martyrs from 1960 to 1968 and graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1972.
She is chairwoman of the Nasonville Fire District.
Information on Teter of 63 Steere St. was not available.
