BELLINGHAM — One local teen, who is accused of breaking into several area homes on Nov. 4 with three other juveniles, has been placed under house arrest.
Joseph D. Desrosiers, 17, of 27 Cranberry Meadow Road was arrested on Nov. 4 along with two 15 year olds and a 16 year old male for allegedly burglarizing three residential homes and stealing a variety of items on Election Day. None of the residents were home at the time of the three break-ins, according to police. Desrosiers has been charged with two counts of vandalizing personal property; three counts of breaking and entering during the daytime, felony charges; three counts, larceny from a building; and misleading a police officer. Judge Robert Calagione ordered Desrosiers to be placed under house arrest at an arraignment held Thursday in Milford District Court. The suspect will be allowed to leave his residence for doctor appointments and to attend classes at Bellingham High School. Calagione also told the Bellingham teen to stay away from the burglarized homes and set bail at $1,000. The judge also said that the bail would be revoked if the suspect received any more charges. The teenager was arrested this past May on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Desrosiers, who is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 1, was one of four youths apprehended on Election Day in connection with a string of home burglaries. According to the police, the four teenagers thoroughly planned all three break-ins, which occurred on Nov. 4 at a house on Wrentham Road, Rakeville Circle and at a house on Lake Street. “This was a planned event,” said Lt. Kevin W. Ranieri of the Bellingham Police Department. “They planned to go out and break into multiple houses. They were off from school due to the election.” Officers confiscated the suspects’ cell phones, in which police say they discovered messages sent to one another about plans to break into area homes. Officers later tracked down the stolen property to a self-made “fort” in the woods, located behind St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery on Wrentham Road. Within the fort, officers say they discovered the youths’ stolen booty, which included five computer laptops, apple pie flavored Edy's ice cream, watches, some jewelry, gloves, a motorcycle helmet, 12 bottles of alcohol, collectible coins, plastic jugs filled with pennies, DVDs and a number of other items, according to police. The three juvenile males, who are not being identified because of their age, are all residents of Bellingham and attend local schools. Each member of the trio was charged with three counts of vandalizing personal property; three counts, breaking and entering in the daytime, which are felony changes; three counts, larceny from a building; and misleading a police officer. Two of the youths received an additional charge of receiving stolen property. All three juveniles were later released to the custody of their parents. They will appear in Milford Juvenile Court at a later date. |
