Accused of beating, torturing, holding man captive in trailer on his Burrillville property By RUSS OLIVO BURRILLVILLE — A Providence County grand jury has indicted a local man on charges of holding another man prisoner in his home, assaulting him with a meat cleaver and other implements and forcing himself upon the victim sexually.
Domenic DiMuccio, 43, of 295 Sherman Farm Road, was indicted Tuesday on 22 counts including kidnapping, five counts of first-degree sexual assault, or forcible penetration, 11 counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and five counts of simple assault and battery. Michael Healey, spokesman for the attorney general, said in a statement that the weapons included a chainsaw, a meat cleaver, a screwdriver, a hose, a boot, a fork, flashlight and other instruments, but he could not be reached for further comment. The statement said that on at least one occasion, the meat cleaver came into contact with the victim’s throat, and on another, a leg. Unidentified in the indictment, the victim was previously described by members of the Burrillville Police Department as a 34-year-old man. Police had said they arrested DiMuccio on Feb. 7 after receiving a tip from a doctor who had treated the victim at Rhode Island Hospital. The victim claimed to have been beaten, tortured and tied up in a trailer that DiMuccio, a trucker, keeps on his property. Police said there was no romantic relationship between DiMuccio and the victim, but they had been residing together as roommates prior to the arrest of the assailant. The charges listed in the indictment stem from incidents that occurred between Dec. 1, 2007 and Feb. 7, according to the attorney general. DiMuccio, who is currently held without bail at the ACI, is to be arraigned in Superior Court on Dec. 17. |
