SCITUATE – Woonsocket remained one-half game behind Mount St. Charles in the Division II-North race following its 60-40 victory over Scituate on Tuesday night.
The Novans take their 11-1 league record into Friday night’s showdown at Mount’s gymnasium. The Mounties improved to 12-1 with an easy win over North Smithfield on Tuesday night. Woonsocket beat Mount in their first matchup late last month at the Novans’ gym.
Ashley Dubois paced Woonsocket past Scituate with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Brooke Coderre scored 10 points and passed out 12 assists while battling a case of the flu. Nicole Boucher came up with four steals.

Mount nails North Smithfield
WOONSOCKET --- Mount St. Charles Academy tuned up for Friday night’s big showdown against Woonsocket High by recording an easy 59-28 victory over North Smithfield High on Tuesday night in Division II-North action at the Mounties’ gym.
Mary Oftring nearly had a triple-double for the winners, as she tossed in 14 points and added 10 assists and eight rebounds, and Eliza Foresti also added nine points. Maria Saia (eight rebounds) and Alyssa Rossi each had eight points.
The Mounties, who stayed tied for first place in the standings with the Villa Novans at 11-1, will host their crosstown rivals in a 7 p.m. showdown.  
The Lady Northmen received nine points from Tori Franceschi.

Ponaganset clips Classical
NORTH SCITUATE --- Stephanie Constant’s 15 points and eight rebounds led the way for Ponaganset High on Tuesday night in the Chieftains’ third Division I-North victory in a row, a 60-43 conquest of Classical High at the Chieftains’ gym.
Kaitlin Lennon also scored 12 points for the Chieftains, who are 8-6 in the division, and Brittany Chase (eight rebounds) and Nicole Ricci each added seven.
