WOONSOCKET — A city man was ordered held at the state prison without bail Friday on first-degree sexual assault, domestic kidnapping and other charges after he was arrested for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, police said.

Anthony J. Molyneaux, 29, of 118 Seventh Ave., also faces charges of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, a razorblade, domestic assault and battery and possession of a switchblade, according to police reports.
Molyneaux was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday and was taken to District Court the following morning for arraignment. A judge ordered Molyneaux held without bail at the ACI pending a grand jury review of the evidence.
Molyneaux’s arrest came after a 26-year-old woman told police that he had been repeatedly contacting her by telephone since he had been released from prison last November. The woman, Molyneaux’s ex-girlfriend, said she told Molyneaux she didn’t want to see him anymore because she was had a new fiance and an 18-month-old baby.
Molyneaux had served about three years at the ACI on charges of auto theft, breaking and entering and failure to register as a sex offender, according to police.
Molyneaux made regular calls to the woman from the time he was released from prison through March 2, according to police reports. Even though the woman told him she didn’t want anything to do with him any more, Molyneaux allegedly threatened to harm her or her loved ones if she did not come over to his apartment to visit him.
Acting out of fear, the woman said she visited Molyneaux five times — occasions when Molyneaux would sexually assault or harm her in other ways. Once, she told police,  he sliced her eight times in the ribcage with a box-cutter. Other times, he punched her in the jaw, pulled her ears or slapped her, she told police.
On March 2, the woman told police Molyneaux held her in his apartment against her will, placing a chair against a door to prevent her from leaving. The woman said she managed to escape, but Molyneaux chased after her with a switchblade and forced her to return to the apartment, where she remained until the following day.
The woman told police she did not file a complaint against Molyneaux until the day before he was arrested because she was afraid of him, but she finally reached out to Patrolman Brian Camara, an officer she knew.
Police obtained a warrant for Molyneaux after taking the woman’s statement and arrested him at home. Police said they found a switchblade in his coat pocket that fit the description of the weapon given by the alleged victim at the time of his arrest.
