NORTH SMITHFIELD — Police are seeking a pair of men in connection with a daylight burglary and related car theft.
A Pound Hill Road resident reported seeing a white male leaving her house Friday as she was returning home at around 12:15 p.m. The woman saw the man get into a car in her driveway and flee.

The getaway vehicle was described as a dark-colored, compact Kia SUV with Massachusetts registration RS8851. The Kia was later reported stolen out of Woonsocket.
On-scene investigation revealed that a second suspect had fled through a wooded area near the home. Police were unable to track him down after an extensive search of that area, with assistance from Smithfield, Burrillville and State Police, who dispatched their K-9 unit.
Police later reported that a .22 caliber rifle was stolen from the home.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information that might be useful to police is asked to call the North Smithfield Detective Unit at 762-1212.
