PROVIDENCE - All season long, Mount St. Charles coach Amy Maguire talked about her young team’s resilience and its quest to win a fifth state title.
With its back against the wall, her squad demonstrated that on Sunday afternoon with a clutch  4-1 triumph over Bay View in its win-or-go-home Division I semifinal contest at Schneider Arena. Four different players found the net for the Mounties, who will face the Bengals in the deciding game on Tuesday night at 7 back at the Providence College rink.
Lauren Levesque scored a goal and had a pair of assists to lead her teammates. Mount came into the game after a 3-1 loss to Bay View in the opening game a day earlier.
“They were kind of embarrassed about the game,” Maguire said. “They came into this game with (the attitude) that it’s not going to happen again.”
“Today, they were the better team,” added Bay View coach Karen Emma. “They beat us to the puck better. They were hungry and wanted this game, and it showed.”
The sister trio of Allison, Caitlin and Courtney Shea combined their efforts on what turned out to be the clinching goal in the game. With the scored tied at 1 after the first period, Allison Shea, a freshman, benefited from an assist by her twin Caitlin and senior sister Courtney, scoring at 2:11 of the middle period. In a scuffle in front of the cage, she got the rebound and flicked a shot to a clear opening on the right side.
“They were flying today,” said Maguire about the Shea sisters. “They were really excited. They just love playing together.”
The Mounties controlled the action from the opening face-off and were rewarded with a quick goal from Katelyn Loisselle in the first  period. The junior forward managed to slip a shot past Bay View goalie Meg Colucci at 3:10.
“That was very important,” Maguire said. “That’s what was said from all the coaches about scoring that first goal and how important it was.”
Bay View knotted the score just over three minutes later when Caroline Baruch found the back of the cage on an assist from teammates Catherine Collucci and Elyse Connolly.
Baruch’s goal did nothing to stop the momentum of the Mounties, who rattled off three unanswered tallies to finish out the game.
Unlike its previous game, Maguire felt her team was more relaxed in Sunday’s tilt.
“They were ready for it,” she said. “They weren’t as nervous and they came to play.”
Levesque scored the insurance goal at 3:25 of the third period on a power play opportunity and then Caitlin Bray benefited from a crowded net by scoring the fourth goal for the Mounties only a few minutes later.
A different player scoring on all four goals didn’t surprise Maguire.
“That’s how it’s been all year,” she said. “If you look at our stats, no one sticks out.”
Mount (14-1-3) and the Bengals (15-2-1), who have combined to win all six of the D-I crowns - Bay View also captured the title during the 2004-05 season - will now square off again one last time this winter to determine an overall champion. Both coaches are prepared for another battle.
“It will be another good game,” promised Maguire.
“It’s always good to play Mount in the finals,” Emma said. “It’s exciting. Tuesday’s going to be another exciting game. Game three will be like all the rest (this season).”
