The Easter Bunny is going to be a busy rabbit, with a host of egg hunts and related activities on tap for the week throughout northern Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts.
The rundown of area activities includes: The First Baptist Church in Bellingham will host an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 11, at 10 a.m. on the Town Common. The event is open to children, ages 10 and younger. Children will be grouped by age for the egg hunt. The event will also feature prizes and a special egg contest. In Blackstone, an Easter egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Blackstone Nursing Home, 8 Butler St. Children of all ages are welcome to attend and hunt for candy-filled eggs. The Easter Bunny will also be available to visit with children. The Burrillville Parks and Recreation Department will hold an Easter egg hunt today at 11:30 a.m. at Branch River Park in Glendale. The park is located next to Burrillville Middle School. Participants are reminded to bring bags or baskets to collect eggs. Prizes will be awarded for winning eggs in each age category. The event is open to children, ages 8 and younger. In the event of rain, the hunt will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 11:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Burrillville Extended Care Division. The town of Cumberland will hold its annual Easter egg hunt this morning at 11 a.m. at Diamond Hill Park on Diamond Hill Road. In the event of rain, the egg hunt will be held on Sunday, April 5, at 11 a.m. in the park. Children will be grouped by age for the egg hunt. The Easter Bunny will also attend the event and be available for photos. Parents and guardians are asked to bring a camera. The event will include activities and treats, as well as free Horsepower Hayrides. The town of North Smithfield will hold an Easter egg hunt this morning at 11 a.m. at North Smithfield Elementary School on Providence Pike. The egg hunt is open to children, ages 2 to 9, who reside in North Smithfield. In Pawtucket, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council will hold a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny this morning from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Ground Round, 2 George St. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, hash browns, English muffins, pancakes, sausage and bacon, cereal, assorted muffins, juice and coffee. Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence will hold an Egg Hunt Safari on Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the zoo, 1000 Elmwood Ave. The event will feature prizes and a visit with a special safari bunny. The Egg Hunt Safari is free with regular zoo admission. Registration is required for participation in a scheduled egg hunt. Space is limited. The Easter Bunny will also visit children at the zoo on Friday, April 10, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and on Saturday, April 11, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tickets are required to visit with the Easter Bunny. The Audubon Society of Rhode Island will hold a Camouflage Egg Hunt this morning at 10 a.m. at the Powder Mill Ledges in Smithfield and the Environmental Education Center in Bristol. The egg hunt is open to children, ages 3 to 10, who will search for brown eggs in a natural setting. Check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to all children. Special prizes will be awarded to those who find golden eggs. Participants are asked to bring a basket. The fee to participate is $5 for member children and $7 for non-members. . The City of Woonsocket will hold its annual Easter egg and candy hunt on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Barry Memorial Field. Participants are asked to be at Barry Field no later than 12:45 p.m. In the event of rain, the Easter egg and candy hunt will be held on Sunday, April 12. All children who reside in the city are welcome to participate. Children will search for eggs filled with candy in three age groups: ages 4 and younger; ages 5 to 7; and ages 8 to 10. Children who find wooden eggs will be able to redeem them for a large prize. A free raffle will be held after the hunt. The Easter Bunny will also attend and visit with children. This event is made possibly by donations from local employee unions and local businesses. Also in Woonsocket, St. Joseph Veterans Association will hold an Easter breakfast and egg hunt on Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon at the association’s headquarters, 99 Louise St. The breakfast will consist of ham, eggs, sausage, home fries, baked beans, coffee and juice. The egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Tickets are $6 for adults; $3 for youth; and free for children, ages 3 and younger. |
