Cumberland lighting its Christmas tree today |

CUMBERLAND — Santa Claus is coming to town.
The town will hold its annual lighting of the town's Christmas tree today at 5 p.m. at Town Hall, 45 Broad St. Santa Claus will arrive at Town Hall by fire truck before assisting Mayor Daniel McKee with the tree lighting. After the lighting, children are welcome to visit Santa and give him their Christmas wish list. Parents and guardians are welcome to bring a camera to have their child's picture taken with Santa Claus. Refreshments will be served. The town will also hold its 11th annual Winter Wonderland celebration on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Diamond Hill Park, on Diamond Hill Road. The holiday outdoor celebration will include train rides, marshmallow roasting, hot chocolate, food vendors and sledding, weather permitting. Holiday characters, such as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, will wander the park and visit with children throughout the event. The event will also feature craft tables, face painting and a penny social, which will offer several prizes. Participants are also welcome to visit the Ski Lodge building for a Christmas ornament painting program. Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck to the park and visit with children. Parents and guardians are again welcome to bring a camera to have their child's picture taken with Santa Claus. All events are open to the public.
