WMS '9' slays North Smithfield E-mail

WOONSOCKET -- Brandon Rainville, Jonathan Flynn and Jalen Evans  led Woonsocket Middle School to a 15-5 victory over North Smithfield on Friday.
Rainville was sharp on the mound, going all 5 innings, allowing 4 hits while striking out 7 batters. Flynn was solid at the plate with a long triple, double and 2 RBI. Lead-off batter Jalen Evans stroked a triple, 2 singles, scored 4 runs, knocked in 3 runs and stole 4 bases.
Matt Lefebvre and Victor Hunt chipped in with 2 hits apiece. E.J. Torres added a triple and 2 RBI. Scott Tucker and Jake Laprade also had key hits for the Novans.
C.J. Dandeneau suffered the loss for the Northmen. Max Laplante collected 2 hits and Dandeneau added a single for the Northmen.
The  Villa Novans raised their record to 6-1 on  the season.  They will visit Burrillville on Thursday and then meet Mount St. Charles in a 10:30 a.m. game at Renaud Field on Saturday.
