CUMBERLAND — A small fire caused a lot of commotion Thursday at a quiet condominium community located off Mendon Road, near Cumberland High School. No one was injured in the blaze.

Firefighters responded around 12:40 p.m. to the Valley View condominium complex, located at 200 Heroux Boulevard.
A small fire had erupted in vacant unit 406 on Pleasant Run, a lane within the condominium complex.
The fire originated from the second floor and spread through the ceiling to the attic area, said Cumberland Hill Fire Chief Kenneth Finlay. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“It immediately got into the attic space,” Finlay said. “The fire was contained within 15 minutes.”
The fire caused minimum damage to the second floor and some minor smoke damage to the building. Occupants of the adjoining units were allowed to return to their homes Thursday.
One woman was seen running through the crowd of curious onlookers to the condominium complex and returning a short time later with a peppy terrier clutched to her chest.
No one was inside the vacant unit at the time. The condominium unit had been sold only a few days ago.
Firefighters were trying to locate the unidentified owner as of Thursday. There was no furniture in the unit at the time of the fire.
Several residents of Heroux Boulevard stepped outside their homes to watch the commotion. Emergency vehicles, including fire trucks and ambulances, lined each side of the quiet street.
Responding to the fire Thursday were members of the Cumberland Hill, Valley Falls, North Cumberland and Cumberland Fire Districts, as well as the Albion, Manville and Woonsocket Fire departments.
