By JON BAKER CUMBERLAND — Just before 2 a.m., Wednesday, police arrested a man and woman – the female for felony assault with a deadly weapon, that being a knife – at a multi-family tenement house, located at 89 Broad Street.
Officers took into custody Amy Arndt, 29, of the aforementioned address, for stabbing her 25-year-old female neighbor in the upper right leg during an early-morning argument, Sgt. George Stansfield stated Friday. They also arrested her apparent boyfriend – Matthew Hall, 25, also of 89 Broad St. – for domestic simple assault and possession of marijuana (first offense), both misdemeanors. The victim, Stansfield said, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for the singular wound, one police considered non-life threatening. According to the sergeant, three officers were dispatched to the scene at 1:54 p.m., and found Hall outside the home. The neighbors apparently had begun arguing, and that escalated into physicality. Stansfield didn’t reveal the source of the problem, but did say three members of the police force claimed there was a lot of sorting out to do. He also admitted police believe alcohol may have played a role in the stabbing and simple assault. Following their arrests, both Arndt and Hall were transported to headquarters for processing, and held overnight before being transferred to Sixth District Court in Providence later Wednesday morning for arraignment. |
