GLOCESTER — Police say they caught 10-15 people attempting to flee an underage drinking party by boat Wednesday evening. No arrests have been made at this time.

Police responded to 144 Aldrich Road after receiving a call at 11 p.m. about a possible underage drinking party. Several vehicles were parked in front of the residence when police arrived, according to Capt. Joseph Mattera of the Glocester Police Department.
As officers approached the house, “people began scattering and running in all directions,” according to police.
Officers ran behind the house, where they found 10-15 people boarding a pontoon boat. The boat was docked at the shore of Waterman Reservoir.
“Police repeatedly ordered the subjects to stop and get off the vessel as they tried to start the motor,” according to police.
People on the pontoon boat, as well as individuals on the property, were gathered into one group and questioned by police.
Twenty-two people, including 14 adults and eight juveniles, were detained. Only one of the detainees was old enough to legally consume alcohol, police said.
Police administered portable Breathalyzer tests to the entire group. Nineteen members of the group had a Blood Alcohol Count (BAC) reading ranging from 0.024 to 0.160, according to police.
Empty beer cans were found scattered throughout the property. Police also say they discovered a barrel filled with beer cans.
None of the detainees were arrested on Wednesday evening. No charges have been filed.
“It (the case) is under investigation,” Mattera said.
Juveniles at the scene were turned over to the custody of their parents. Adults were also released into the care of “responsible parties.”
The homeowner of the property has been identified as Vincent Iannuzzi, who  was out of state at the time of the incident, according to police.
Iannuzzi ran unsuccessfully as a Democratic candidate for a seat on the Glocester Town Council in the 2008 election.
He is the also owner of Sticks Tavern, a bar located at 417 Putnam Pike (Route 44). Sticks Tavern claims to be the only place in Glocester to “have an outdoor cocktail,” according to its Web site at www.stickstavern.com.
