BY JOSEPH B. NADEAU CUMBERLAND — The two elderly victims of a two-vehicle accident on Diamond Hill Road Thursday afternoon have been identified as Charles E. Langille, 86, and his wife Laurette M. Langille, 76, of Foxboro, according to Cumberland Police.
Cumberland Police Capt. James P. Coyne said the couple was positively identified as the Langilles by the Rhode Island State Medical Examiner on Friday. Charles E. Langille was the operator of the vehicle, Coyne said, and his wife the passenger. The Langilles were identified as residents of Mirimichi Lane in Foxboro. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit and no further details on the incident will be released until Monday, Cumberland Police said Friday. The Langilles were reported to have just pulled out of the Ice Cream Machine Co. at 4288 Diamond Hill Road at about 3:50 p.m. in a blue Ford Windstar minivan and were struck broadside by a commercial box truck entering Diamond Hill Road from Pine Swamp Road and heading south on Rt. 114. The couple’s van was knocked into woods near the entrance of the town’s Diamond Hill Park. The victims were subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner’s Office. |
